Week 2 - "On the Road Again"

If we were to be stuck somewhere then Brookings/Harbor is a great place to hang out. On Saturday July 17th, we did a bike ride and lunch to Harris Beach north of Brookings, its been a while since I have cycled and nice to get back in the saddle and go up hills.

Harris beach is one of my most favorite spots so far, rugged, lush and fine sand.

BTW - for giggles we added a Map section on our homepage - some people have requested a visual representation of our trip. Hope that this is useful.

On Sunday July 18th we had to leave the RV spot we were in as we found 2 nights at the Beachfront RV in Harbor. We met a lovely newly local couple Kerry and Lynne, from San Diego over a cup of coffee. We had a great chat about Brookings, Harbor, life and travel. Hi both if you are reading this.

So many RV's, trailers, and campers on the road, everywhere is booked post Covid

Lots of beachwalks & ocean watching, so amazing to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean waves.

On Monday July 19th Peter takes Ruby to the Top Gear (aka Tranny Man) Mechanic in Brookings and cycles back, we are fingers crossed the new differential arrives at 1pm. Top Gear calls and yes it's arrived and will be ready to pick up by 4 pm.

Tuesday July 20th and Francesca's B'day - After 8 hours on the road and 7 hours driving along the gorgeous Oregon coastline we did nearly 300 miles and are now just outside of Portland so back on schedule. 😊 with an hours stop for lunch at one of Oregon's famous lighthouses, Umpqua Lighthouse.

Wednesday July 21st, we drive into Portland to see Mario & Rebecka, SF friends who moved to Portland 2 years ago, they have recently moved into a gorgeous house on the corner of a quiet street in NE Portland, so pretty and so very lush and green. Rebecka & Mario takes us into town for some local sights, Powell Bookstore, the Rose Garden and the Lookout point where you can see Mt St Helens, Mt Hood (it's peak was just covered in the clouds. We said our farewells and then provisioned for our next few days.

Thursday July 23, We are at our next destination, a car park in Tenino behind Scatter Creek Winery & Brewery - this is a free overnight spot, so Boondocking again - yay! We will be popping in tonight for a little wine and/or brew tasting.

Friday July 24 off to Seattle, Bellevue to stay outside Peter & Anita's, long time friends we met in SF when we were in our mid twenties and early thirties and full of adventure, ooh guess what we still are.......
