After 3 months moving around the UK, staying with various friends and family, we have now found a place for Big-Al to hang-out for a while.
Our stuff arrives very soon after we fly back to UK. Container after a week and Big-Al a few weeks later. The container was unpacked in less than 2 hours and organised in the old milking parlor of the farm. Everything was there and intact and we quickly dug out some extra winter clothes and shoes.
The Saturday after we arrived we went down to Hampshire and Dorset to see a couple of properties, the views from both were amazing, the second property we decided had a great garden and Big Al would enjoy the views over the Solent, Our offer was accepted. We caught up with old friends in Brighton and shared the news on our exciting potential new home.
As we found our potential new home quicker than we expected we decided to carry on searching to make sure The Solent was the best fit for us. We drove down to Devon and Cornwall in our old banger (cost 600 pounds and cheaper than a hire car), Our little car navigated the roads, lanes and tracks of the Devon & Cornish countryside and coast like a dream, We saw 12 houses in 4 days and on the way back arranged to see our potential Solent home again to make sure and its still a BIG YES!
Coincidently, the night we stayed in the Solent was the time that they decided to blow up Calshot's Fawley Tower, See before and after photos.
We travelled up to the Highlands for the last 2 weeks of November to see Peter's Mum in Achiltibuie and spend Thanksgiving with her. We kept busy, hiking, crossing things off Peter's Mum's To Do List and gently going through the house buying process, which moves along at a glacial pace compared to the USA.
Back down to the South Downs, keeping busy with the paperwork of making Ruby street legal in the UK, and the gentle pace of our house purchase. We had a pre-Christmas small gathering at Peter's Dad's farm before our flight up to Inverness where will spend Christmas and New Year with Peter's Mum in Achiltibuie, Friday's are walks, quiz and nibbles with neighbours. Below are some photos of a nearby scramble that we did to top of Stac Pollaidh (aka Stac Polly) - one of the most popular walks in Scotland. A squall arrived when we got to the top with snow accompanying the 50 mph winds,
In January, Ruby becomes street legal and we get to meet up with some old friends. Lateral Flow Tests before meeting up with friends becomes the new normal, and so worth it, as we reconnect with our old UK life. A quick visit to "That Pedal Show" studio,
Big-Al's new home - here is the view from the new pitch. Our purchasing papers have finally exchanged and our completion date is so very close. We celebrate with a pub lunch and figuring our where in the garden Big Al will live.
It's been a while since we last connected with you and this may be the last TrailerDreams post so please get back to us and we hope to can catch-up soon.
